We set off the next morning to visit the Stone Forest, or Shilin. and a 2 hour drive from Kunming. It is a limestone formation consisting of rock caves, arches, and pavilions. The tall rocks emanate from the ground in the manner of stalagmites, creating the illusion of a forest made of stone.
The famed Yunnan ham
We had lunch at a random stall by the street. These look strange but they are actually really tasty
Yunnan is known for its coffee beans
Along the streets of Kunming
The view from the backseat of the cab. Drivers are protected by metal grills
Dinner is at the restaurant just next to our hotel. It is kind of connected to the hotel. The food is really delicious and you can get main dishes at about 250 Yuan (USD 4)
A spicy shellfish and onion salad as appetizer
A warming chicken soup
Stir fried Tea Tree Mushrooms. This dish is quite spectacular and the most unforgettable to me.
We take a walk along the streets at night. Yunnan is also famous for the their cured meats, so there are many stalls selling these.
